Apple's New Device - iPad Will It Squash The Market?
You have the Kindel, You have the Nook, Now Introducing the tablet that will squash all ebook readers and be the leader in tablet books.
No matter who you are, be it Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Michael Arrington or myself. When you look at the iPad all you can say is "It's a BIG ass iPhone". Sure it may not have the phone but Skype anyone. Just remember this iPad has a built-in mic and speakers we can only guess it will work with iPhone headsets?
But be it may a kick-ass iphone, the Apple team have tried the hardest to set it apart from its brothers and sisters (iPhone and iPod touch). With a new set of rules for developers, as well as re-designing in-house applications like Mail, iCal and Maps not to mention Youtube's app looks 10x better.
Now anyone that knows me, would also know that I am a mac fan boy, but I also use PC (Windows and Linux). While I will say that Mac's are a bit easier to use once you know how to use them. However the same goes for Windows and Linux users. Just think about it, it is the basic rule "Once you know how to use it, you get use to it".
Anyway you might be thinking that I am going to say that iPad is the best? Well to tell you the truth, I am not sure. While I am thinking should I or should I not. As I also feel that 499$ for the 16G could be better spent, as well as that is in US dollars so that makes it about $600 Australian. You have to start to think why buy this, when you have a Mac or a PC?
Infact I would be better off buying the Laptop that turns into a tablet (Lenovo - ideaPad U1). Sure I may not get the app-store or the iBook-Store but I would get a laptop and a tablet in one.
However with the IdeaPad U1, I would get Windows 7, Linux, be able to take it everywhere that I could take the Apple iPad, on top of that I would be able to continue browsing what I was browsing on my laptop when I move to my tablet.
At this stage, Apple with all the products that they have, they still have not found away to allow a feature like that.
A big move for Apple would be to allow you to sync what you where browsing on Safari (PC or Mac) to your iPhone browser, and now the iPad. I guess I would really like to see Apple do what the IdeaPad U1 does with the iPhne and iPad, since I wont have the iPad on me 24/7 unlike the iPhone. If Apple was able to do this it would make it a real player.
Another feature I guess is there iBook-Store while no news has came out about syncing the iPad iBook-Store to a MacBook to view when you don't want to look at the iPad (Yeah right you will want to keep that on your 24/7).
So I guess unless clothing companies bring out pants that will allow me to fit the iPad in my pocket or I stop taking my laptop instead I take my iPad I think right now I might pass.
Plus with no news on if I will be able to import books that I buy on Amazon or even I download? It makes this device a bit useless for me right now. On top of that I don't read yet I do blog a lot and read blogs.
mmm IDEA!!! Why not make the iBook App for my websites and blogs I visit, like an RSS book store same look with pages and all, it would allow Newspapers to sell their newspapers direct to me, without me buying paper which I don't do, due to the environment (It's wrong to buy newspaper in a day of the internet).
Anyway In closing I personally am 40% wanting to buy and 60% not wanting to buy. I guess time will tell. Oh plus no built in cam BOOO Apple, mind you, you can buy a cam plugin from Apple (Oh spend more many with Apple - Apple profits $$$$$)
